The organism has a l-carnitine reserve of 20-25g, which is supplemented through the daily consumption of meat (mutton, beef), milk and wheat products. L-Carnitine is an essential substance for the energy metabolism and is needed primarily for the transport of long chain fatty acids through the inner mitochondria membrane.
